MATERIAL
LOADING SYSTEM
A medium-sized chemical manufacturer contacted S. Howes
to design a material loading system for a lumpy, hardened
feedstock which was difficult to load and process consistently.
S. Howes’ design of this system focused on improving
ergonomics and the consistency of product as it fed through
downstream processing components.
S. Howes fabricated a rotating platform with a hydraulic
lift so that material could easily be loaded onto a pallet
via forklift and subsequently loaded into a bag dump station
by the operator. The operator controls the rotating platform
from a control panel on the platform itself. Additionally,
the operator uses the same control panel to operate the
split-tube conveyor which runs in sequence with the lumpbreaker.
As a result, the chemical processor improved both safety
and consistency of the product throughout the process.
