Granulator

The industry’s most reputable size reduction cutting machine.

Known in the industry as the most reputable size reduction cutting machine, our industrial granulator is a single, compact machine constructed of steel that introduces efficiency to cutting and sizing. The original “Eureka” Granulator was designed and manufactured by S. Howes for the agricultural industry during the 1970s and has since been modified to handle numerous non-agricultural products. Today’s S. Howes granulator is affordable, effective, and built to last.

FAQs for Granulator

What is an industrial granulator and how does it work?

The S. Howes granulator cuts and sizes bulk solid materials using offset cutter rings that rotate at approximately the same speed. Centrifugal action forces material outward between the rings, which shear it to size and eject it immediately. This action produces fewer fines and delivers a clean, sharp product.

What materials does the S. Howes granulator process?

The granulator handles a wide range of dry bulk materials including corn, barley, beans, wheat, milo, peanuts, mustard, charcoal, salt, pigment, and resin. It was originally designed for agricultural applications and has since been adapted for numerous non-agricultural products.

What throughput capacity does the granulator support?

The granulator handles up to 13,000 lbs of dry corn per hour for high-capacity applications. Its compact design occupies less than 5.5 square feet of floor space and weighs approximately 967 lbs.

How quickly can cutter rings be changed for different particle sizes?

The granulator has only two moving parts, which keeps maintenance requirements low. Rings do not require resharpening and can be replaced easily. The feed spout includes an adjustable slide gate to regulate product flow and simplify operation.

What are the maintenance requirements for the granulator?

Proper size reduction improves material flow, enhances mixing and blending performance, increases reaction or dissolution rates, and reduces blockages or bottlenecks in downstream equipment – boosting overall process efficiency.

Is the granulator available in sanitary or stainless steel construction?

The granulator is constructed of steel with heavy-duty iron castings and a tubular steel frame. Contact S. Howes directly to discuss construction options suited to your specific material and application requirements.
